Muscle car hire Las Vegas
Discussion
Hi
My self and Mrs sd are heading off the Las Vegas in a couple of weeks, I have had a look through Google searches for Muscle car Hire for a couple of days.
Mustang Gt , Charger , Camero ss or the likes not overly fussed as long as it has a good sounding v8 and is a little fun. Ideal a drop top but not essential Just looking to drive up to the canyon or the like as we see fit.
Can any one pass on experiences and good places to rent such cars.
Cheers Scotty
I did try and search but it seems to be down again.

I've used Hertz for a Camaro, Challenger, Mustang and Corvette - you can book specific models. All very easy, not had any issues at all.
Ditto: Very cheap as well, whereas the 'specialists' charge much more.
If you're gonna take your missus up the canyon you need a decent motor......

I hired a Veyron in Fort Lauderdale last Autumn. I needed it for a drive down to Miami. There were so many Highway Patrol men , cameras and radar traps that I never got out of third gear. Not only that but it was the most boring drive I've ever had. The car was wonderful ( but mainly as a puller of Miami totty ), but the road was terrible beyond Sebring. It is dead straight and snooker table flat. On both sides it was lined with eight foot high alfalfa, so it was just like constantly driving thr a green and yellow tunnel. I fell asleep at the wheel it was so bloody boring. Only when I was travelling sideways down the dirt hard shoulder did I wake up. I ripped something loose underneath since it flapped and clattered for the rest of the journey. When I got to my hotel I gave the car parking valet $200 to fix it. He said that on a car like that he'd do it for nothing, but I did notice that when I got it back the tank was empty !

Not sure what the real relevance of your post is to the original question but I'd interested to know how much a Veyron costs to hire. scotty_d said:

Thank you Guys Hertz it is. From above what would you pick again if you had the chance? The Mustang has become ubiquitous and a bit meh.
They also do Panamera, Boxster, Cayenne and 911 - quite pricey though, a Boxster is $2000 a week and only 700 free miles included
Be careful when booking - there's always been an odd anomaly when I've booked, sometimes the price varies by up to 50% even if the dates are the same.
Example: Taken from Hertz's site today, Camaro 4 days in April is $920, whereas the convertible Camaro with the same engine and same dates booked is only $460.
You should be paying about $100 a day over a week long rental but insurance is extra and can be pricey ($35 a day?)
Sometimes the miles are restricted to 300/400/700/1000 and then 29 cents per mile depending on the length of rental but the Camaro convertible is unlimited miles up to 4 days and thereafter mileage limits kick in starting @ 5 days and 700 miles (daily rates are higher to offset this, do your man maths).
I once did 3000 (unlimited) miles in 4 days in a brand new Mustang that had only 9 miles on it when I picked it up and they just couldn't work it out, they kept walking back out to the car to check the odometer and said 'It must be 300 miles Sir?' It wasn't.
Burnout pics on return please.
I can pretty much guess what that report is going to say.
"Didn't feel all that fast"
"Awful hard plastic interior panels"
"No room in the back"
"Looked great"
"Oh, the noise"
Of the 3 usual suspects (sounds like the C6 isn't on your list anymore), aside from the aesthetics, I think you'll find you picked the lemon. The Challenger is heavier, slower, less powerful, under-braked and over-softened, compared to the Camaro or the Mustang.

It's not like i will be bashing up to Applecross in it and at 375 BHP and the same weight as Jupiter it will feel slow next to my own car, But it is transport with a V8 pretty much all i am after and i can say i have tried one not like i am buying the thing "Didn't feel all that fast"

Next time i can try something else.
I will see if my view is the same as yours any ways.

Kind of missing the point though - none of them are cutting edge."Didn't feel all that fast"

He'll wind down the windows, floor it and hear it kick down over and over again until Mrs SD changes her mind about being taken up the canyon.
Have a ball Scott.

Conversely, I'd argue that you are missing the point in that the comparison is with each other, rather than some 'cutting edge' alternative. I'm extremely familiar with all three - they are all pleasing in their own way - my point is that the Mopar's advantage is how it looks, not how it drives, when compared to the Ford and the Chevy - all subjective, of course. He'll wind down the windows, floor it and hear it kick down over and over again until Mrs SD changes her mind about being taken up the canyon.
