Booked a set of flights to Dublin with this joke of a company about 6 weeks ago for a weekend away. Theyve contacted me today to tell me that theyve changed the flight time on the return back from the original flight time of 1730 to 0615hrs, completely messing up my weekend. Oh but wait, I can change back to a later one but it'll cost me £89 extra.
Is it just Ryanair or do they all do this?

Sorted. Phoned them (10p a minute) and they offered me the free upgrade. The manage my booking part on the website didnt offer me it.

I'm not sure that I'd ever chose to fly with Ryanair but they've made european holidays an affordable reality for a lot of people, who on the whole have cheap stress free flights. They wouldn't still be in business if they really were as bad as the Daily Mail would have you believe.And as the op has found out, a simple phone call has sorted out his problem.

I agree, the premium line phone number is the only one available (I tried finding an alternative) and the upgrade they offered me was the seriously st timed one which incidentally was £60 cheaper than the one I ended up with.
I've got previous with Ryanair, but i've gone back for a 2nd time, just because it was so cheap in comparison with the alternatives.

I suppose its cheap for a reason. If they had a free phone number to do this kind of thing, then its things like that which increase their costs (or rather reduce their income) and therefore the ticket prices would be higher. Im not defending Ryan Air though, before anyone gets on their high horse. I hate the company and would avoid using almost at all costs. They make Easyjet look good. But if the alternatives are massively more expensive, its hard to justify.

Its not just Ryanair that change flight times - Thomas Cook did it to us 4 years ago on our booking to Orlando. They moved the outgoing flight later by 5 DAYS and our return by 7 days EARLIER, meaning our 3 week trip was reduced by 12 DAYS. It then took us 6 hours to get through by phone. They moved the return flight back to a full 3 week holiday, but refused to compensate us for losing out on our villa booking.
A phone call to a Scottish Newspaper got us our refund + the cost of a new villa within 20 minutes of them trying!
And this was after spending 3 days trying to get through to them to pay the final balance in the first place. Even the local TC shop wouldn't accept the payment as we'd booked over the internet. Finally got an office in Glasgow to divert our call to a payment centre who eventually, after 20 minutes haggling, took our debit card.
Obviously the last time I'll ever use Thomas Cook!

Ryanair are an excellent airline. Stop trying to compare them to a BA or VS and accept them for what they are, buses in the sky. I probably use them 5-6 times a year and only do so because they are such good value.

They are a joke of a company, my mother was going on holiday 4 months ago when the pilot of the aircraft she was queuing to board tripped her up by cutting through the que with his travel bag in toe causing her to fall and break her ankle in 3 places. No apologizes from the pilot or RA.

I've vowed never to fly with RyanAir - I just don't need that kind of hassle in my life. If they're the only way of getting somewhere then I wouldn't go.
All Airlines chage their schedules - this isn't limited to Ryanair. I've vowed never to fly with RyanAir - I just don't need that kind of hassle in my life. If they're the only way of getting somewhere then I wouldn't go.

I never have and never ever will get on one of O'leary's planes.
It's a well run company, has a good record for punctuality and it's cheap. The fact that it is also very profitable would suggest that a great many people get a good experience.
