I have a busines trip to Aus coming up but have to fly into Melbourne (via Hong Kong as I'm working there first) which limits the airline I can use.

I normally fly A and I know they get slagged off, but I quite like them, however they don't fly to Melbourne so I have to travel either Cathay or Quantas (have to stop in HK as well).

Does anyone have experience of them both so they can let me know which is best before I book?

Many thanks

Qantas via Dubai all the way if it was me. Far better than CX's 777 offering.

A380 with Emirates. No comparison.

Thanks, I really don't want to have to stop in Dubai as I have to go through HK for work on way to Aus.

Do you mean you normally fly BA? If so you can fly with them to HK which is the majority of the flight and then onto Melbourne with either Quantas or Cathay depending on who they are codesharing with now. I think they switched to Cathay from 31 Mar?

Yes and I think that's what I'll try to do. Since Qantas terminated the joint agreement with BA, things seem to be up in the air (pardon the pun!) and the Travel Agent is recomending the whole journey with either Qantas or Cathay. I'm guessing it's because it is cheaper than splitting between carriers.

If I was flying to Sydney, they said they would recommend BA all the way.

Quantas are now code sharing with Emirates, might be worth checking out the flight numbers to see if you book a Quantas flight you could well get on the Emirates 380 on the return leg.
