Pitiful treatment by Cathay Pacific
Discussion
I was booked to fly to Hong Kong yesterday, from LHR,but we sat on the runway for four hours, in sweltering heat while they tried to fix an air con fault.
Eventually we were all herded into the terminal and basically told to go catch a bus.
There was no direction, no staff helping, no specific plan what we were meant to be doing, just chaos, 350 people wandering round the airport.
Eventually we worked out to go through immigration, catch a bus to Park Inn, and that is where most of us still are nearly 24 hours after we should have taken off.
I've called Cathay several times this morning and everybody had been told to wait until 10:30 today, when a rep would come and give info.
Nobody has shown, not a f
kin' soul from Cathay has been near the airport.
I called again ten minutes ago and found I'm now booked on china southern airlines, later today. So I had a rant at the phone person and asked then how the juddering f
k I was supposed to know that out, if I had not phoned them for the fourth time....
And there are still hundreds of people, some have no phones, some can hardly speak English, stood waiting in the lobby.
Utterly disgusting performance by Cathay pacific!!!!!!!
They don't appear to have any sort of complaint system just 'feedback' on their website. I have utilized it, for all it is worth.

Now I'm back on Cathay........
At least 20 years living a and/or working in Asia has taught me that getting stressed and loud achieves nothing.
It has made quite an interesting little event for my first visit to the UK in over 2 years. Pity we are paying a bloody fortune to come for a real visit in a fortnights time......

Meanwhile to put things into perspective, thousands of people around the world, many of whom were children, died of starvation. So, you got delayed by a day, so what?
? Yes but they didn't pay £700 each for the privilege, did they?OMG!!! WHAT ABOUT THE KITTENS?
Thanks for the heads-up K-H, I have grown to prefer Cathay for RP, so will watch this one with interest.

£700 would have bought many people enough food to live on for 1-2 years, that's real perspective. Delays are all part of flying, it's par for the course. Why bother moaning about it? No one got hurt or died. Just get on with it and get the next available flight. Once you arrive you'll forget about it. There are far more important things to be concerned about.OMG!!! WHAT ABOUT THE KITTENS?

I was just coming back to say that they hadn't bought a ticket for the starvation experience had they?

Yes, agreed. Much more important that you start an argument online, than sell the car and feed the starving people.
This is the reason I will never fly Virgin again. 23 hour delay at LHr with no information at all. They held us at the gate for 4 hours not allowing people to go to the toilet. We were then able to go back to the terminal with a food voucher that didn't cover a burger. The Virgin desk kept telling us that the plane was going to depart even though the board said cancelled.
It was a disaster and I think that a lot of it came from the desk staff who probably don't work for Virgin. But I hold a grudge and having flown many routes to the US hundreds of times I still refuse to fly Virgin. (They do have the best looking air hostesses though)

What a cock. Firstly read the post again and you'll see that the rant wasn't about the delay but the total lack of customer care and communication about rescheduling.
Secondly, if you feel that strongly about starving people around the world then sell your 993tt, buy something cheap and nasty and send the balance to the starving children.

I knew there would be at least one dick who would come out with some such drivel.
Why don't you sell that stupid car of yours and donate to the starving masses??

And to get back on topic after the smart funny guy made his move, I'm now at home in Manila, 30 hours late, but I do fear how many people starved to death while I was sitting happily on the place quaffing wine.
I still haven't had my tea, do I count as one of the starving?Well 993tt man seams to have gone a bit quiet, if anyone's bored may I suggest you follow the link and suggest he doesn't waste any money on his next purchase but donate it instead

I kind of agree, it's akin to people that get wound up and blast horns to pieces due to road rage/someone cutting them up, or annoyed cos they're stuck in traffic, not the end of the world!Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
