Car Hire For Euro Trip?

After a bit of advice really, myself and a friend are heading put in a Euro Trip early part of next year and I would like to hire something to drive. I am looking for setting like a Caterham or Westfieldaimly because I would dearly like to own one of these cars but my situation for the foreseeable future won't allow it really.

So I thought it would be cool to spend a long weekend shacked up with one touring France taking in some PH type sites on route. Trouble is a lot of the hire sites I have looked at seem to limit the mileage quite heavily or don't allow European usage, does anyone know of any exceptions to this?

Would be grateful for any pointers.

I've been keeping an eye out for years. I was all set to join CCC (who have a Caterham) but they introduced a mileage restriction a while back. Best bet would be to buy one for the trip and sell it on your return - probably cheaper than renting if you buy right.
