Hi all,

I am getting married abroad in September and need to sort out insurance. I was wondering if any of you had any recommendations or suggestions as to where to go and what cover to get?

Obviously, I want to cover as many eventualities as possible, such as illness for either bride or groom (whilst there, and also beforehand which stops travel), accident, resort not being available etc.

We are going on our own - no family or friends - so quite simple in that sense. We are off to Fiji so lots of onwards travel connections, and a miriad of types of transport.

So, the table is yours - what are the best options!?

I would just get standard holiday insurance.

The wedding is just an activity on your holiday, and not a particularly risky, or costly one from the number of people attending, or would be affected by unknown circumstances.

I got married abroad a couple of years ago, and that is all we did. Probably the biggest risk for us was losing the wedding clothes in flight as they cost more than our holiday insurance would cover - but we took the gamble of our standard insurance. My wife did decide to scratch her eye removing contact lenses, the day before the wedding resulting in hospital treatment, but this was not wedding specific insurance that covered this. In fact I think we never bothered to claim off insurance at all for this.

Just closing this off - thanks for your input. This is exactly what we have done (normal insurance, not scratch our eyes out...) smile
