Hi folks,

Not specifically for you Peter but as I don't know anyone else who lives in that neck of the woods I thought you'd be a good place to start.

Girlfriend and I are spending three days down there, one of which will be in Thorpe Park. Can you recommend anywhere to stay, eat and any interesting places to visit for the other 2 days please.

Can't help with accomadation I'm afraid although there are plenty of places around.

Surrey has some beautiful places, especially where we are in the Surrey Hills area.

If you are bringing the chim this area is great for some mid week pootling through the countryside.

The North Downs, Box Hill to Newlands Corner area is full of woodlands, country lanes, scenic villages, (Shere etc) great pubs and places to visit.

Endless country pubs to choose from - as well as The Chequers try The William Bray in Shere, owned by Julian Bailey, also The Parrot in Forest Green and The Grumpy Mole on Brockham Green.

Some nice hotels but tend to be pricey - the B&B at Denbies vineyard is thought to be ok by the locals. See http://www.denbies.co.uk/accomodation/

They also have a nice restaurant on the top of the vineyard building - not the cafe on the ground floor btw….

Some nice roads but beware potholes and militant lycra clad cycling groups.

No Chim I'm afraid, apart from the occasional glance when I visit my local specialist I've not seen or driven her for over 3 months

Waiting for the ECU to be delivered, should only have been 5-6 weeks. Thank you also for the very kind lunch offer, I'm sure I still have your number so we may well give you a tinkle if we get a chance, doubt it though as the reason for the visit is her birthday, so between shopping and Thorpe Park I don't think there will be much time for me to gawk at your 5.5

Denbies is 5 mins from me.

As said, great restaurant, great cafeteria under an enormous glass roof and amice shop.
Also they do a little tour of the vineyard in a land rover pulling a couple of open carriages.
