F1 Road Trip To Monza

So I've got my ticket for the weekend, camping is booked at the track Monday to Monday and the bike is kind of ready to go.

My plan is to watch the MotoGP at Silverstone on Sunday and leave there at about 4pm, head down South and jump the train over to France and tent up for the night just down the road from Calais, rise and shine at dawns crack Monday morning and go down the A26 through France, across Switzerland, through the Alps and over the top into Italia by tea time Monday.

Anyone got any tips or advice? I've never done it before (the ride or Monza) so not sure what to expect. What's the border crossing into Switzerland like?

How close to Calais are you camping? the people waiting to illegally get to this country are raiding local campsites, thieving whatever that can get hold of.

Good shout I never thought of that. The place I've found is about 30minutes ride from Calais, do you reckon I'm better heading further in?

I went to Monza on a fortnights holiday back in 1996 on a new CBR600, fantastic ride down over the Alps taking our time and stayed near Milan. Went to the circuit on the Friday, Saturday & Sunday and when I came out after the race my bike had been stolen, fortunately I had taken out AA 5 star cover so they arranged a hire car to continue the holiday. So if I was you I'd use a big lock or make suitable arrangements and make sure you get a grandstand ticket as we couldn't find a decent vantage point on the Sunday to see the race.
