I'm all set up for roaming with three, however, if an American company calls my number while I'm in America, will they get charged a local call or an international call?

International - they dial your home network and it forwards the call.

If Three at home is anything like it is in France then don't bother, youtube doesn't work none of the radio apps work, even sky news app takes ages to fire up.

Three feel at home on my htc desire hd was st in Florida, couldn't get anything better than basic edge or 3g signal which made any data use extremely frustrating. On my Moto G 4G LTE which has more radio bands, in AZ,CO,UT,NV i was getting H+ most of the time i wasn't in the middle of nowhere, i did have to manually select the network a few times as sometimes i could not get a data connection on T-Mobile but could on AT&T.

With a US company calling you ,the good news is it wont cost you a penny, but feel at home doesn't make it cheap to call US phone numbers, just UK ones. Calling the US from your feel at home phone will cost you 15.6p/min on PAYG

I'm hoping the signal will be ok, I'll be in the middle of Houston.

I'll be getting picked up by a driver and they want a mobile number they can get in touch with me with - but they can't dial international. I can't exactly get a US sim for one phone call.

I may end up having to get a different company if they wont use my number.

as said, they will call your UK number at get billed accordingly. You won't get billed for international leg. Dump the car firm, put uber on your phone and use that to get a car once you clear customs. This worked wonders for me in NYC over easter.

Just buy a burner from walmart, or use a forwarded google voice number if you've got data. The latter means you can make calls for free in the US too.

If the driver you're using can't dial an international number, as others have said, ditch them. They're cheapskates.

I used three at home last year in Nevada and California without problems. Used my phone with Google maps as a sat nav. Have also done the same in France, which I'll be doing again in a few weeks time.

I used my 3 phone a lot when in California last year. Used it as a sat nav, spammed facebook and booked the hotels when there and my bill for the month was only £10 more than usual.

Used three at home in California and Boston last couple of weeks, last year used it when driving from Miami to Washington DC. Good reception and google maps was my sat nav, everything included in my package. Brilliant!

I used my phone on Three in Orlando and SW Florida last summer, always had a good reception but the Internet was woefully slow. Worked ok for sat nav though.
