Calais to Turin
Discussion
Take a look at http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/
It works out the cost of tolls on your route. Personally I'd be tempted to not go via the Mt Blanc tunnel and use the Frejus tunnel - bit more time driving on France and basically brings you out straight into Turin, driving in Italy is no where near as good as driving in France.
And avoid Paris at all costs!

It's a bit over a thousand kilometers I think ,so that's about 10 hours without stops of any kind.
It's Allways my choice to have ten mins or more break after three hours constant driving. Time lost due to stops etc soon mounts up.
I was trying to be on the safe side for you. To be honest I don't like to drive much more than about 700 klm in any day.

Hi.
I'm heading there in a classic Mini Cooper with a mate, completely refurbed and upgraded
The rest of the group are in Mini Cooper s cars. I'm thinking it might be better to head down there before them the day before so we can potter along on the first day, as it could turn into a manic drive otherwise the following day when everyone heads off. We will be sticking to the speed limit, however their cars are likely to be more reliable at higher speeds. We will probably hit Calais at 8:30.... So best case it's 9 hours and 5:30 and worst case early evening...
The journey home via other parts of Italy and Switzerland will be easier from the Nurburgring, so a quick sprint back

I do admire your confidence but have an overnight stop down near Lyon and enjoy a scenic route in Turin in the morning.I'm heading there in a classic Mini Cooper with a mate, completely refurbed and upgraded

Thanks chaps.
Sounds like you guys are pros at this
Lyon to Turin...any thoughts on things to be aware of? Dijon gives us an opportunity at the northern entry to Turin and some mountain passes etc.
Yeah earplugs and intercom. It's going to be pretty hardcore for sure lol. I guess it makes sense to go down the day before and we can have a few stops. The cars completely stripped out, roll cage...yes you can imagine the rest and it's all been done. The engine will be just run in too
Our initial plan was we were going to stop at Dijon and then catch Reims-Gueux Circuit and head via the mountains, near Mont Blanco. think we are near there, before hitting Turin. Be there early afternoon, while the rest hammer it across France in one hit and get there a few hours later. Easier on the car too before the shorter mountain road days.
Any advice is appreciated.

I've just done Montgenevre to Calais on Saturday so not a millions miles away from your journey.
Left at 6am and was at home near Worthing by 5pm. The main hold up was the tunnel, on a busy weekend you can wait.....and wait......and wait as I'm sure you know.
The Frejuis tunnel was a breeze both ways on this trip but last year on our way back from Italy the tunnel queue was huge and it took three hours to get to the front of the queue.
We don't tend to stop except for fuel and a loo break. My children are both brilliant travellers and are happy to sit and play etc. during what must be a pretty boring journey.
