Never been before.
Would like to take my wife their for a few days.
2 nights in nice, but not too expensive hotel.

Suggestions please.

The Bear of Rodborough.

Whilst there visit the Painswick Rococo Gardens.

The Cotswolds are lovely but quite big. If you stay at one end then the other is quite a drive.

If you want to do the other end Stow on the Wold, Moreton in Marsh, Bourton on the water are places to look.

The Snooty Fox in Tetbury https://snooty-fox.co.uk/

Nice setting, superb food. Can get good deals that include dinner and a cream tea.

Perhaps not quite what you're after since you said hotel, but I've stayed in The Village Pub in Barnsley, which was nice, and also very quiet. Breakfast was fantastic, but didn't try the evening offerings.

Good location surrounded by some really awesome roads (both scenic and driving).

Stayed there not long ago, not bad and blagged in to a party at the end of the night too.

Here are some more choices:

The Kings Head, Cirencester. Recent complete refurbishment. Excellent cocktails at the bar. Cirencester is the centre of the cotswolds apparently! I live in the area.

As above, Kings Head in Cirencester is nice and great cocktails. Also, http://thewhitehartstow.com/ in Stow-on-the-Wold is pretty good and within easy reach of some of the more popular spots. I only live down the road but we often go and stay in the Cotswolds for a night or two as its a nice getaway and a change of scene without a long drive stuck in traffic to get there.

Lygon arms in Broadway is nice, has a nice spa on site if that's your thing!

GF's parents own Ivydene house B&B which is beautiful but I may be a bit bias and it might also be a bit too far outside of the cotswolds

I was going to suggest The Lygon Arms, but I'm not sure it satisfies the "not too expensive" criteria. It used to be run by The Savoy Group, but I don't know if that's still true.

Another vote for http://dormyhouse.co.uk/

Going there with the wife at the end of the month and they currently have the launch of the Aston DB11 going on (Plus the CEO is a MASSIVE petrolhead)

I've spend a good bit of time over in that area recently due to wedding bells etc...

We stay here if we're in the area.

They look after you well.

This, I'm just up the road in Evesham. And having been all over the UK I'm very grateful to have grown up and still live here. Really is a beautiful part of the world.

there is a nice one in Broadway, Although I stayed in montpellier Chapter (now the malmaison cheltenham) was nice and quite reasonable too. I prefered this as it was in a city rather than the quite towns in the Cotswolds and still drivable to all the good spots

Shaven Crown, Shipton under Wychwood?

http://www.theshavencrown.co.uk/#home

Stayed there a couple of times & recently spent around 18 months living just up the road in chipping Norton.
Burford, Woodstock (Blenheim palace is spectacular & The White House, Bladon is a great eatery - chef is ex Compleat Angler, I think), Moreton in Marsh, Stow as mentioned, all v pretty market towns. Chippy is ok, nothing special compared to the others.

I live in Dumbleton. Hotel has s stunning setting but some rooms are a little tired inside.

For me, Dormy House near Broadway is good, also Russells in Broadway. Buckland Manor nice but pricey.
