I'm attending a concert in Hyde Park this Sunday which should finished at 22:30. The last train where I need to go leaves Liverpool Street at 23:30. Does anyone know if an hour (let's even say 45 minutes if they play an encore) to get back to Liverpool Street?

Should be. Hyde Park station to Holborn, change to Central line. Should take 25-30 mins once you're on the train. But don't underestimate how long it'll take to get out of the park and into the station, and trains may not be all that frequent at that time of night.

Getting out of the gig will be your problem. If you're able to exit the park on the north side you'll be close to Marble Arch, Lancaster Gate or Queensway tube stations. All on the central line and direct to Liverpool St in about 25 minutes.

You'll then still need to find your platform at Liverpool St. It's a big old station.

I reckon you might want to see the encore from the very northern edge of the crowd. Unless it's Tom Petty? If it is, fk the train home, stay till the end and sleep on a bench or something. Wish I could be there.

Just get out of the immediate area and get an Uber all the way back I reckon. If it's more than just one person if you can swerve the surcharges you may be pleasantly surprised on cost too

It will be easily long enough for the tube journey itself but IME just getting out of Hyde Park and to the tube after a big gig can take 30-40 mins. Whole area will be rammed with people all trying to get home.

If you really have to catch that train you are going to have to leave the gig early. Stay over somewhere and enjoy it.

I reckon not possible if you stay until the end with everyone else. Especially as youll need say 5 mins at L.S to find and actually get on the train.

And maybe unpleasantly surprised, if, aware that lots of punters will be leaving the gig, Uber introduce their verdammt "surge pricing."
Shouldn't be hard to snag a black cab, Marble Arch to Liverpool Street at that time of night, maybe 20 minutes or less, circa £22-£24 total on rate 3, up to 5 passengers included.

Lancaster Gate station is closed at the moment so don't head for that.

This. As soon as everyone decides to leave, then good luck getting on a tube - think it took me an hour extra to get home last year.

Is staying an option? Certainly removes stress and lets you enjoy the concert.

No it's not. It reopened about 10 days ago.

Hence the "get out of the immediate area" comment that preceded the recommendation.

If Liverpool street I'm guessing Essex/Herts?

In that case I'd get a Piccadilly tube as far north as possible (Cockfosters?) and get an Uber the rest of the way from there - no surge and you're away from the hoards and far closer to benefit from reduced taxi cost

Depart Hyde Park at the Marble Arch end, Central Line straight to Liverpool St 12 minutes (tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey)

As for knowing what platform - 1-10 generally Herts/Norfolk 11-18 Metro/Southend

I've seen him four times in North America and once on the Isle of Wight. This will be be the first time on UK soil.

I'll be front road (diamond circle) so no plans to leave early wink not sure where that puts me entrance/exit wise though.

That can't be right, it's about 8 stops.

Absolutely no chance of leaving a gig at Hyde Park and being at Liverpool Street an hour later by public transport or cab. You'll still be waiting to get into the tube station at 2330.

Probably your best option would be to walk, but you'd have to get a shuffle on, it's about 3.5 miles.

Your issue is that from your position it will take you some time to exit the park in any direction, let alone to the north which is your ideal direction.

Once you are out of the park to the north then you have a raft of options for the Central Line but experience of Hyde Park events has shown that they soon begin to control the crowds to stop the platforms over crowding. You then play chase the train by heading down Oxford St to other stations with no platform crowds but the trains that come in are full.

The better tube option would be to push further north up the Edgeware Road and take the Hammersmith or Circle round to Liverpool St. But even that is going to be pressed to get you to Liverpool St in time for the overland.

Frankly, given that most of the acts will die this year at current attrition rates then I would not waste my time rushing away from such an event but relax, savour every moment and wander in a chilled manner out across Park Lane, into Mayfair (this is the one direction that simply takes no one home from Hyde Park so the quietest way to bail) grab a taxi to a preferred area for a mellow beer and food and then go and sleep at a modest hotel and get up some time in the morning, grab a bit of breakfast and take an empty overland train home from an empty station.

With regard to taxis, Uber is likely to be swamped and costly as most people at the event will have that as their primary taxi app. For events like this you want a black cab app like Gett (MyTaxi which has recently replaced Hailo seems a bit shonky and unreliable at the moment) and also Addison Lee.

Ultimately I think bailing early and legging it in the vain hope of getting a crappy late night train home is a terrible option and finding a cheap bed is going to be much better.

Alternatively, drive in, park to the north in St Johns Wood and then you can tube, taxi, bus, walk, skip, roll back to your car from the event.
