Mixed up names on Eurostar Ticket
Discussion
Because I'm ace I've bought tickets for me and Girl Zollburgers to Paris on Eurostar. Unfortunately I managed to completely balls up the booking and have mixed our names up.
One ticket is both our first names and the other is both our last names. For example, instead of Brad Pitt and Maggie Thatcher, the tickets are for Brad Maggie and Pitt Thatcher. Note that these aren't our real names.
I emailed them as soon as I booked and they say they cannot change the names and I need to cancel the booking and re-book. This incurs a fee and I'd also need to pay the difference between the original price and the current price of the tickets. The cost of doing this is almost as much as the original price as it was an offer that has now expired.
Can I still use the tickets with the 'incorrect' names on them? It's pretty clear it's an honest mistake but I'm worried I'm going to get massively shouted at if they won't let us travel.

If it's anything like flying they'll deny boarding when it doesn't match your passport.
An ex colleague made an arse of a flight booking once - he goes by his middle name (ie John David Smith gets called David by everyone) and booked the flight in the name of David Smith - cost him £150 or something silly to change the booking for a £40 flight despite it at least partially matching the name on his passport.

Recently asked to change the name on a booking with Eurostar as person who was going is now ill and cannot make it
No
Simple really, the answer was just a straight no
Cancel the booking and re-book, no refund, no fee to change name, just tough sh*t. Cancel and re-book at your cost.
Thems the rules and I guess you agree to them when you book.
Ho Hum

Have printed the tickets out and it does say ready to scan at gates!

Edit: The email with the tickets says "Simple scan your barcode at the ticket gate and you're off. Bon voyage!"
Ignoring the fact they can't spell 'simply', I'm going to assume that's legally binding. Hooray.

Passport control is automatic machines
Not every time I've ever been. The machines allow you to check in. The frenchies do the immigration bit manually our end. Whether they correlate passport name and booking name, I don't know. I'd like to think there's a system that says 'here's a list of names we're expecting, but this chap's presented a different passport... let's ask some questions'.Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
