Deary me. Dropped off and collected some friends from here over the course of the last week.

The place is 15 miles down back roads from the A1. There is no free drop-off/collection area anywhere near the terminal. There is a free for one hour car park “just 3-4 mins walk” away. I don’t think I could run this in 4 minutes without any cases.

Icing on the cake last night/this morning was the collection from the return flight. The flight actually got in 10 mins ahead of schedule, but then because some other flights had turned up as well, it took no less than 90 minutes to get the luggage onto the carousel. I’d arrived and parked up about 15 mins before the flight got in, so my one hour free parking was going to expire. I had to go out (3-4 minute walk, ha!), leave the car park and re-enter to start the clock again. 3-4 minute walk back to the terminal and wait for friends to appear.

Finally got back to the car, loaded up and tried to leave the car park - “please pay £12 by credit card”. Contacted car park guy through the intercom for a full and frank exchange of views. To his credit he did sound a bit embarrassed that this £12 charge was because I had overstayed by 4 minutes. Further full and frank exchange of views and I invited him to just open the barrier, which again to his credit, he did.

I assume my friends made some savings by using this place, but they were not worth it. I shan’t get involved with it again.

BA don't have a lounge in there, but use the pay for lounge. During the holiday season, I go and sit in a quiet spot instead of in the lounge <shudder>

As my "local" airport, it's terrible and easier to get to Manchester from my house as I have a train station at the end of the road. This just shouldn't be the case at all but there you go.

Flying to Tenerife from there next month, my loacal airport is Manchester it’s only 25 miles away from my house. Leeds Bradford is about 80 miles away.

The reason for Leeds Bradford is the fact that it’s £886.00 cheaper than going from Manchester for the 4 of us with similar flight times and on the same day.

Flew from Leeds about 4 weeks ago.
I found the experience pretty painless.

Pre booked taxi. So dropped within 20m of the terminal doors.
The lounge area is much improved on years ago.
I'd happily use the place again. And as stated prices seem cheaper than other airports

Wont be after you pay for Parking.

Just today I have tried to book for parking from a generic Monday tea time to Wednesday evening in October. Not Holiday season.

£50.
for two days.

Brass fking neck
That's about right average for short stay.
Same prices at most airports to be honest.
The great push to get you on public transport.

You've got lots of private park and rides at Manchester which is cheap, I doubt they have that at L&B.

A quick search points out sentinel for £27.

Sentinel is excellent for parking, very close and painless

I have 7.5 days booked from middle of next week, with the car washed just before pickup - £56

Despite living 10 minutes from LBA I try to avoid it wherever possible.

Cost us £12 to get a taxi to the airport and £19 to come home, for a 4 mile journey.

It’s getting better but they should have built a new building from scratch. I picked up some clients from Dublin a while ago and they couldn’t believe how crap the connection to Leeds city centre was.

I’m not convinced it’s that much cheaper either. It’s normally on par with Manchester and a bit more than Liverpool. We flew from Glasgow last time as it was 1/4 the price from either Leeds or Manchester, albeit a 3 hr drive.

It's way more than £50 for 24 hours in Heathrow short stay. Plus you now have to pay £3.50 minimum to pick someone up (or it's a large fine if you're caught collecting in drop off - which is free).

Do they have a long stay car park?

LHR long stay for 4 days was £40 ish, 2 weeks £70. Gatwick is about the same. £50 for 2 days is extracting the urine.

It’s got worse over the years.
There are plenty of places to park up 5 mins away and wait for passengers to clear bag pick up etc but dropping off is not easy, but any airport that you don’t know is a nightmare.

It's actually between Leeds, Bradford and other smaller town so close to lots people, even if not to A1 / M1 / M62.
Otherwise it feels quite grim but works ok due to it's small size (probably).

Holy thread resurrection!! I did a search and this is the most recent thread I can find. I’ve got a dirt cheap package holiday booked flying from here next year, so need somewhere to stay for a night & then park for a week. In terms of convenience, it looks like the Travelodge or Premier Inn are the best options, but Holiday Extras only seems to sell this with Sentinel Parking, not the on-site car park. The on-site mid stay looks convenient and the airport offers a discount code on the website, but they want a fiver almost to make it flexible or there’s no refunds! Holiday Extras do the on-site at the headline price with free cancellation but no discount, though I guess I could use a cash back site. seems they don’t do cash back on parking at LBA.

Does anyone have any advice on stay & park here? Are Sentinel any good? I usually prefer to keep my keys, but this doesn’t seem to be an option with them.

I’ve also found a Britannia hotel and a country house/spa place that offer on-site parking but I don’t want to faff about with taxis (or stay in a Britannia) so any nearby ideas that provide transport are gratefully received.

Don’t stay at the Britannia hotel what ever you do it’s a dump, the food is even worse.
Well it was about 5 years ago.

There’s a Travelodge directly opposite the airport and a Premier Inn round the corner. The long stay parking onsite is good and there’s a shuttle bus to the terminal (and you get to keep your keys).

Otherwise the Britannia is dire, but you could try The Chevin Lodge or The Parkway.

I’d expand your statement to say don’t stay at any Brittania Hotel no matter how desperate you are..

We hate this airport even though as the crow flies it is our nearest.
Last time we landed we had to wait ages for a bus to get us back to the terminal.
While waiting to exit the plane the Captain said “I hate this sodding airport”

The long and mid stay are coming in about £7-8 apart in cost, which one would you recommend? Still a bit miffed at them wanting more money for a flexible booking, it seems to be standard elsewhere. The easyJet schedules are generally a work of fiction this far out (and the flight times on this booking changed within 12 hours of booking it!) so I expect I’ll need to modify or cancel it at some point.

The Chevin Lodge came up in my earlier searches, I’ll look for the Parkway, is it easy enough getting to/from either of them?

Thanks to all who have replied, I appreciate it
