Heading to Anglesey circuit this weekend on a whim....
Discussion
Suggestions on where to stay and things to do, apart from the obvious of Anglesey please
. We're stopping over Saturday and watching the racing Sunday and there seems to be lots of nice looking towns/villages in the area that might be worth a look. Anyone in that neck of the woods with recommendations would be appreciated

The White Eagle in Rhoscolyn, great place to eat, truly fab and not far from the track

Sticking to Anglesey itself, head to Menai Bridge or Beaumaris for food. Plenty of choice in both and I would recommend the Bull Hotel in Beaumaris for dinner. Dylan's in Menai Bridge is average, but great views over the Menai Straits. Llanberis at the foothills of Snowdon is quite spectacular at this time of the year, just not a lot to eat there.Accomodation wise, I would look at Trip Advisor. Having lived on Anglesey all my life, I still wouldn't know where to send people to stay!
Personally I'd stay clear of Dylans, its average at best
If there is a few of you I'd recommend the Liverpool Arms for a Sunday Dinner and if there is enough of you, 4+ call them and book your meat for dinner. We did it a few months ago and got 2 legs of lamb that you carve yourselves and it is the best sunday roast I've every had.
The Midland in Beaumaris is good for Tapas and the food is always good.
Finally, the Bull in Beaumaris is also very very good

+1 for The White Eagle. We had an excellent dinner there a fortnight ago, the pub, food and staff are all great. Nice view too.
Have a potter around Rhosneigr it’s a pleasant village with a cafe or two, a few shops and good beaches. Also a walk through Newborough Forest to Llanddwyn is very pleasant, weather permitting obviously.

Food for though, thank you all! I think we may struggle to fit in all the meals though
. Any nice beaches?
Beach wise, Newborough and Llandwyn Island which are very close to the circuit are superb. The views (especially at this time of year for a winter sunset) are just sublime from Newborough. Also, Cable Bay which is half way between Rhosneigr and the circuit itself is very pleasant.
. Any nice beaches? As previously mentioned, Newborough Warren for a walk through the Forestry Commission Pine Forest plantation to Newborough Beach & Llandwyn.
Cable Bay Beach is a favourite ( there is a prehistoric burial mound you can walk to along the low cliff to the right of the beach ).
A visit to the shear cliffs at South Stack to the west of Holyhead is a must for breathtaking views and walks.
The White Eagle at Rhoscolyn was a favourite of Wills & Kate when he was off duty from flying helicopters from RAF Valley. Very good food and service. I would advise booking if you wish to eat at the weekend.
Anglesey has many many quaint beaches, each with their own character.
Trearddur Bay is nice in summer, but a bit quiet out of season.
The never-completed Beaumaris Castle is interesting ( if it's open out of season? )
Red Wharf Bay is pleasant and has a nice pub/restaurant specialising in seafood but may be closed out of season ( it can be disappointing for Red Dwarf fans who could possibly be expecting something different to the actuality.
)
But a word of caution: I would strongly advise not to use the public toilets in Menai Bridge town.
They are absolutely disgusting and an utter disgrace.

T Bay is best, like most of Anglessey when its quiet and the weather is horrendous, as a place it isnt full of stuff to do but there is something magical about it, been going all my life, originally Benllech but Treardurr for the last 26 years or so.Cable Bay Beach is a favourite ( there is a prehistoric burial mound you can walk to along the low cliff to the right of the beach.

I get there and its mainly just do a decent walk, then back and then read, few drinks and a nice dinner.
Anyone else find when they go to Anglessey, have a walk that first night they sleep like they never normally sleep, absolutely knocked out, comatose ?
