I am spending Friday in Bournemouth whilst my wife is on a course, so I will have the whole day to myself.
Is there anything interesting to do there or am I going to be bored to death.

If you like the great outdoors venture to the other side of Poole and go for a long walk or better still a bike ride over the Purbecks?

I'd leave Bournemouth immediately.

I like strolling around Sandbanks for the pure cheesiness of it. Then you can take the ferry across to some proper countryside. Swanage is a fine spot. I like going to Winspit quarry to pretend I'm in Blake's 7.

yes Great coast path walks. Or hire a bike from Cyclexperience in Norden if you don't have your own. Durlston Country park is good if you want a short walk, Arne is great if you're into twitching. There's also Corfe Castle. And the steam train.

Mrs Loafer comes from down there.

Basically both are made up of multiple interchangeable suburbs of people who you don’t want to spend time with.

I’d go for a trip to Studland on the ferry and a walk to a pub.

Boscombe (bus, or train to Pokesdown). If you like vintage clobber, some great shops on the road from Pokesdown back to Boscombe. Also some great food places, and fabulous architecture if you look up.

You'll also see some street drug dealing, but the 'hell hole' reputation is hilarious to anyone who's lived in a major city.

Libraries are good, especially Bournemouth Central; great beach (especially the Boscombe end); Russell Cotes Museum on the cliff top in the town centre if you like architecture and art.

Go to Poole nd get over to Brownsea Island, its a lovely way to spend a day.

You get a nice boat trip around Poole Harbour...

Plus you should get to see wild Red Squirrels....
