Off abroad soon in camper, what’s Calais like for immigrants milling about slowing traffic

Have a young kid so don’t want any dramas

Are you using the tunnel?

I was there the week before last and didn’t see a soul on foot anywhere

I’ve used it three more times in the last 12 months and experienced same.

Nothing to worry about

Been through several times since the jungle camp was cleared and high fences put up on the port approach road.

Have seen the occasional individual or small group hanging about a little way out of Calais but there's usually been a low level police presence too. Nothing to worry about IMO - a bigger problem might be the Jillets Jaunes if they decide to close the A16 again for hours by starting a bonfire on it between Calais and the tunnel terminal.

Ask me how I know... smile

Probably little different to an increasing number of places in the UK.

I see a few hanging around by the roundabout near Pidou, just by the port. The only no go zone at the moment is the BP petrol station at Dunkirk, the main camp is near and at night it's definitely not the place to stop.
