My first package holiday is coming up in a week. Well first since the internet, I think, and as opposed to just buying flights, ferries etc and doing the rest myself.

So pay extra for early check-in in as it looks like the flight is almost full and we would like to sit together.

Says please print E-Ticket??? It's 11 pages. I filter it through but still looks like they have spread possible important stuff across 8 pages, including the must have (So it says) ATOL certificate.

Today it says I can print my boarding cards. I double check and it definitely says boarding cards. 8 pages again and I now have the seats I have booked confirmed in print.

It continues. These are not your boarding cards, just go to desk at airport where your boarding cards will be handed to you once you have checked in.

WT Merry F!!!!

They only need the reference bit. You don't really think they are going to read the ATOL cert for everyone do you?

I guess, as the ref is all I need when I usually fly, but not knowing how jobs worth these companies maybe, even I'm unsure if that'll be enough.

The paperwork is eating into my poor luggage allowance hehe

It's the boarding cards that really hiss me off. As it plainly says print boarding cards.

YOU’VE NOW SELECTED SEATS FOR YOUR FLIGHT. PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS NOT YOUR BOARDING CARD. AT THE AIRPORT, HEAD TO CHECK-IN DESK WHERE YOU’LL BE GIVEN A BOARDING CARD TO PASS THROUGH THE SECURITY GATE TO DEPARTURES.

Great, now 8 more pages of wasted ink and paper.

The daft thing is, when you get to the desk to pick up your boarding card, they'll only glance at the paperwork and your passport.

I've never done it myself but I thought you could scan your boarding pass from your phone.

You can with most, if not all airlines. However OP has booked a package holiday which will invariably be on a charter flight, and I suspect their check in isn’t as efficient.

When you print you can select which page, the one with the relevant information not the rest of the guff.

Isn’t a lot of it adverts, guess they get a good amount of people sitt8ng there killing time wanting something to read.

We printed one in a3 once when going to a stag do (we also had the normal sized one as backup)

The girl at the gate was a good sport about it which was a nice start to our trip.

I did, hence getting the first draft down from 11 pages to 8 hehe

The info, if really needed, is spread throughout the pages.

As I said before, I have not done packages in decades so am not sure how bloody minded the individuals who check this stuff are, and as it's only 4 nights I just want to keep glitches to a minimum.

Cephalonia smile as someone did ask, cheers.

Seems according to Tripadvisor and to the woman I finally got through to, that if booking TUI and flying Norwegian, you can't check in on-line.

Maybe TUI, if you are listening, put that on your website.

I've got a bad feeling about this.
