Looking for similar destination to Santorini, needs to be warm in September 4 hrs max flight from London terminals with plenty of flight options for a Friday- Sunday.

Weekend will be about eating drinking and relaxing on the beach.

Cheers

One of the last places you want to go due to the security situation.

Fly to Pisa
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinque_Terre

Hire a car or the train is dead easy. Levanto just to the north of the cinque terre is a nice wee town.

or

Sicily, Dubrovnik, Montenegro

Indeed, but having been to a talk this week given by an expert in the field it was a specific example of somewhere not to go. (Not that I would’ve gone anyway for that very reason)

Was he an expert in the field of being scared? Ive been to Turkey a couple of times, and recommend Dalyan and Olu Deniz and wouldn't hesitate in going again.

To be honest I'd be more wary of travelling around London nowadays but would still go.

A travel industry expert who specialises in security, how about your credentials?

English O level and Bronze life saving badge.

It was just a joke! I'm always wary of experts.

It’s just an opinion of course, but an opinion that I trust from someone who knows their st. Everywhere has risks of course, but some are higher than others. Wherever you go it’s worth checking the security of the hotel, what do they have in place to prevent attacks and what happens if there is an attack.

That is not a bad philosophy and having visited some of the more dodgy places in the past, I am wary whilst travelling to various regions still.

Why fly via Pisa when Genoa is closer and also has a good train service for the Cinque Terre? And I think the car would be wasted as the roads and parking are a big challenge. The train serves all the towns well.

The roads around cinque terre are awesome! Parking available everywhere, we were there in June and didn’t struggle to find a space in 3 of the 5 towns we visited. We were staying in the hills so needed the car (fiat 500 - perfect size for the conditions)

We went to Parga / Valtos this year. Fantastic, really relaxing. As ever, the locals were simply wonderful. Love that country.

Flew out with a Polish airline (enter air) via a cheap package deal. I was pretty sceptical but from start to finish it was excellent. As this is a location on the mainland the flight and destination were both yob / mohican / tattoo free.
