I did some of those in my younger/single days. I was late 30’s, they were a bit of a ‘shagathon’. tongue out

I've been on a number of singles holidays, mostly with a group called Solos. They can be a bit hit and miss, but if you go with an open mind and attitude they can be fun. The singles-looking-for-a-partner/sex thing was confined to history long ago.

Solos was the company I used to go with. I had some very good times but definitely a ‘Shagathon’.

Nothing remotely like that happened on any of the Solos holidays I went on. 3x skiing, 3x sun. Maybe our age groups were different? I put myself mostly with the 35-50 group although I was early 50s. I went 50-65 age group once, but found I shared very little in common with any of the others so socialising was awkward.

I've been on 3 trips with Just You. The first one was great, a good mix of ages and everyone got along fine, but the other two kinda put me off them. The group will nearly always be 70% women, all of a certain age who will all have a great time, leaving about half a dozen blokes of various ages awkwardly doing their own thing! Definately NOT a shagethon!biggrin

The times have perhaps changed. I did a Solos holiday and 3-4 weekends in the mid 1990’s, of course I was younger then.

These days the terms 'solo holiday' and 'singles holiday' tend to mean rather different things. The former are targeted at solo travellers just looking for some social company. The latter are more targeted at single people looking for anti-social company+.

+ Well I'm sure SOME of them like being watched but generally not.

The age thing - isn't it down to the activities? If it's just a group touring a city then expect OAPs. If it's a sporty holiday, then expect a younger crowd in the age range specified.

Can work, but you can also end up with on a ski trip with 3 over 50s (two of whom started going at it like rabbits).

Solos holidays provide an age range for each holiday. You'd be be very out of place at 40 putting your name down for an 18-29 years holiday, and in fact Solos may not allow it, I'm not sure why anyone would try to be honest!

My brother in laws just returned

I mention for anyone else thinking of a holiday like this

it was like a OAP coach trip
4 or 5 travellers were ok, but certainly not a dinner party social scene
most of them never had enough hair for curlers, 3 in wheel chairs, most with walking sticks

I'd be tempted to find a relevant sports break for singles. At best, you end up potentially dating someone you will at some point give half your house to; at worst, you're at least still playing a sport you enjoy.

The most popular solo holidays are organised by age. You'd look ridiculous and rather sad as the only 50 year old (let's just say) if you fibbed about your age and winded up on an activity holiday where you were 20 years senior to everybody else.
