Only 60 as well. Great player, even if he did cheat us out of the World Cup

There’s a lesson on cocaine consumption.

60, there won’t be another like him.

Sad, but inevitable. Didn't he have surgery recently?

Notwithstanding his "hand of god" he was a great player; certainly one of the best I've ever seen if not the best of the lot. 60 is no age, very sad....

Lucky enough to see him play live. An absolute great of the game.

60 is no age but drugs and alcohol will do that to you. George Best was 59. Robin Friday was 38. Gazza is 53 and hopefully in some kind of rehab but there seems to be a self destructive gene in the most gifted soccer players. Sad news despite the “hand of God”, he was a sublime talent.

Sad news, certainly the greatest footballer I've ever seen in my lifetime. Didn't ever watch him live but that's not surprising, given I'm a Yeovil fan. hehe

Died on the 15th anniversary of George Best's passing too.

Football Genius, albeit flawed.

I can forgive his hand of god, but only because of the other goal he scored in the same gamebiggrin

He had his demons, and I hope he's now at peace

Very sad.

You got problems if you're 5' 5'' and weighed 20 stone.

Gutted. My favourite ever player and if he was playing today he’d be by far the best in the world. Sheer talent and class. Shame he’s fked his life up after football.

As a player part of a small group of best ever.

Flawed as human being though, partly a victim of its own success. Besides his addictions not the most intelligent character either.

Messi def. is an improved version of Maradonna IMO.

Maybe when he leads an average Argentina to a world cup or joins a club the equivalent of West Brom and leads them to a couple of Premier League titles we can discuss a similarity between the two.

Sadly I don’t think Diego was destined to reach old age, but 60 is no age.

Best player ever IMO.

I enjoyed this from 2008

He must have had epic munchies considering the stimulants that went up his nose.
