Has anyone heard when the compulsory wearing of facemasks on trains, esp long distance might be relaxed, or as has been said on one of the press briefings IIRC , that this may continue, possibly, to November.

There is very little enforcement and it's not really feasible to expect non-compliers to produce evidence of exemption if they claim it. You therefore have a choice.

As to the actual question, I have no idea.

Interested in this. Going Glasgow to York in August. Plan B is stretching a coffee or a beer out for 3 hours.

Another thing. Are covid 1m spaces in force so my wife and I will get a 4 seat table to ourselves?

The few trains I've been on recently have been fine, a few daft stickers about but otherwise business as usual... I wasn't going at rush hour though...
No mask and the ticket guys weren't bothered. Refreshingly normal really
