Hard Rock Hotels? (Or recommendations for Tenerife)
Discussion
Trying to book a last minute week away and Tenerife seems the easiest and cheapest to get to. And The Hard Rock Hotel there is dropping into the shortlist of hotels as it is supposedly good for kids (5&6 YO).
Is it as bad as I imagine? I envisage loud music all day and night, loutish behaviour and more of a party atmosphere than one that’s relaxing. The reviews suggest otherwise but I really don’t want to be amongst 20-30 year olds having fun when I’m not allowed to!
Any other recommendations for Tenerife? Five star, or four star if punching above their weight.

Stayed in the Hard Rock Hotel in Bali and it was brilliant for kids. Great music sat around the pool which was not just a pre-determined set that you kept hearing over and over. Instead, it was adjusted to the conditions (ie, soft and slow on a quiet Tuesday morning, faster and more beat heavy on a busy weekend afternoon), with plenty to do and live music in the bar every night.
Not sure about Tenerife, but I would certainly recommend the Hard Rock as a chain.

It’s a bit chav, roof top bar was ok. There are villas in that village or area with private pools for similar money. Is it as bad as I imagine? Thanks both!

Yeah, a villa is more my thing as, generally, I prefer peace and quiet. But my wife wants a kids club and nice breakfast so villas are out now - I really don’t get much of a say in the matter as it’s not a holiday for me. I hate choosing holidays….
I stayed in Hard Rock in Tenerife a couple of years ago and it felt very new.
Music in the lobby was quite loud but I never noticed it after checking in though.
The two hours free daycare (my eldest was two) was a godsend and they were brilliant, we often went to the spa and it was pretty good.
They have a beach area with stage and do live events but you have to cross over a private bridge to get there.
Pools were good for little ones and the wrist band for paying takes all the hassle out of carrying money, weirdly the coffees are all nespresso machines, although big commercial ones that at first glance look like a real coffee machine.
Restaurants are usual american fare, decent enough but overpriced, we went half board so you get x amount off or you can use the main buffet place and it was a decent standard.
I upgraded halfway through and was put in the other tower where a floor down from the rooftop bar you get your breakfast away from the unwashed
, they also have unlimited snacks during the day and early evening which was actually great for us as we were often back in our room early as our son was so young. If it was just two of us, id not bother as the rooms themselves were not much of an upgrade in my opinion and my first room had better sea views.
It was very new and clean when I went so maybe different now.

Thanks for that! Seems to tie in with a lot of reviews I’ve read and a friend of the family who’s goes there every year. Music in the lobby was quite loud but I never noticed it after checking in though.

Decided to book it, so as long as the children are entertained, I get to have a few beers by pool and the wife can read a book in peace it’ll be fine. Any kind of extra enjoyment will be a bonus!

Just in case anyone ever manages to get the PH search function working and this thread comes up…..
Really enjoyed it! Not what I was expecting at all and far more chilled. Great kids club, great breakfast, warm pools, rubbish restaurants in the hotel but a couple of decent ones outside. We’ve booked again for next year.

La Caleta is best for restaurants, worth short taxi ride. Really enjoyed it! Not what I was expecting at all and far more chilled. Great kids club, great breakfast, warm pools, rubbish restaurants in the hotel but a couple of decent ones outside. We’ve booked again for next year.
