Looking at hiring a car next May. Really want a Convertable Mustang to do the Pacific Coast Highway.
All of the sites say mustang or similar.

Anybody had any experience of this and did you get the car you booked ?

What are the chances of getting what I want, or am I likley to be left disappointed when i get there and end up with a Z4

Trying to email companies, but I suppose it just goes in their junk mailbox.

So what do the people of PH think?

You’d be lucky to get a Z4. I’ve booked a mustang or similar once in California and once in Florida and got the Mustang both times. I’d have taken a Z4 both times

Haha. I know what you mean, but I can get a Z4 in this country.
Just part of my fun holiday. Hopefully I will be (un)lucky too.

We booked a stang convertible from Vegas airport for a roadtrip and got one with no issues, it was too hot for the roof down 90% of the time but still good fun

As the owner of a convertible Mustang when I lived in California, I have to say they aren’t all that, I was happy to trade it in quickly for an F150 Lightning

Hertz have (or had) a variety of US convertibles for rental, this from my last trip to LA

If you’re hiring from one of the big name renters from a main base like LAX or SFO there is a very good chance you’ll get the mustang - they rent them out like fiestas over there. Some of the prestige arms of the big renters will let you chose and guarantee the car that you want if you want to be 100% sure.

I’ve always had a decent choice of Mustangs when I’ve used Alamo at Miami; the only time I used another company (Avis) was for our wedding and they tried to give me a Beetle Convertible which I told them wasn’t happening, and they eventually found a Camaro.

I get that Mustangs are not prized here above for example BMWs, but for me it makes the trip, and the eco boost is plenty for the style of driving we do.

Currently visiting and have this nearly new Mustang on the drive -

The Mustang isn't that good, especially the base model V6 that you hire.

I've done the PCH twice. The Mustang really struggled on the turns. The second time I'd rented a BMW 228i and that time I felt I'd taken the right car.

I wouldn't worry about not getting a Mustang. It's the one car thell have loads of. I'd worry more about getting one.

Thanks for the replies.
Will be collecting from San Fran airport,as it's 30 dollars a day cheaper !!!!!
So hopefully by the sound of it they will be begging me to take it away smile
I HAS to be a mustang even if it's not the best car.

PCH.
Mustang.
Whale watching.
Stopping wherever, whenever and enjoying the wildlife, scenery, and relaxing.
Was going to do it for my 60th, but 2020 put a stop to that.

tim0409 that looks bloody good to me.

Thanks again everyone.

As others have said, you should be OK. I booked Mustang convertible or similar from San Diego airport in March and was offered a choice of that or a Camaro. I stuck with the Mustang. It's worth noting that they'll probably all be the Ecoboost, don't expect a V8 (but your wallet would probably thank you anyway!).
