virgin bid for upgrade

has anyone ever tried the virgin bid for upgrade system?

how soon after making and offer do you find out if you have it ?

I tried it recently but didnt get anywhere. I found out few days after trying which was also a few days before the flight.

Bizarrely when checking in they then offered an upgrade which was cheaper than the bid I had made. Not sure how that makes sense!

Hmm might leave it then

Lowest bid is 410 each person each way for upper
There are only 3 seats taken in upper at the moment on the way out departing in Jan

So availability seems decent
