Hello. We’re considering a trip to Denmark this year. I wonder if anyone has any accommodation recommendations when travelling with two young children, that might be a bit different from the normal chain hotel “family room” experience.

We’ve seen already that we won’t have enough time to see all that is worth seeing around Denmark, but any other recommendations gratefully received. Children are 2 and 6. Thanks!

I’ll follow this with interest, as considering it myself, seeing as flights can be cheap!

I browsed booking.com and found plenty of decent looking hotels, some special ones,

Manom les suites
Bohr apartment hotel
Wide hotel

Ah sorry, I’ve got quite a few on my list, hadn’t looked through before adding it.

Flights are cheap? Where from? My kids want to do Tivoli but I can't find flights much under £100 and that's from LHR and tbh I'd rather book a different theme park and go from Stansted to Verona/Stockholm/Eindhoven etc.

Gatwick with Norwegian or Easyjet seems to be the economical route to and from Copenhagen.

If you want another great theme park, then there is Liseberg in Gothenburg which I believe is the largest in Scandinavia, it's pretty epic and great for all ages!

Thanks, Gatwick, ugh, bit too far.

Already got Efteling booked for Feb half term and Liseburg/Grunaland pencilled in as a joint trip later in the year. Did a week in Costa Dorada last August and the kids only really enjoyed the two days in PortaVentura, so we went back in October and that's now set the tone for this years holidays. I'll be taking my Kindle. Gardaland, Europa, and all the others are possible if the flights/ferries align.

There’s a great science museum for young kids in Copenhagen called “Experimentarium”. You can probably find more details via Google!

We are going in Feb. Out of season obviously and probably cold but we're staying in an Airbnb right in the middle. I just find that better than a hotel so we don't all have to go to bed at 7.30. (having said that a couple of nights in a Premier Inn going to bed at 8 really recharges the batteries).

Hey OP, what did you do in the end?

Looking at a similar trip next year - only just started looking but so far, unless spending mega money, family hotel rooms or self catered options look a bit cosy!
