Autoeurope car hire

Looking to book a hire car at San Francisco. Most seem to be Avis,Budget,ect, through some kind of comparison site like Autoeurope.

I want a convertable Mustang. Anybody had booked and had any problems because it's not direct with the hirer ?

I've booked cars with places like Holiday Autos or Costco and you get a 'normal' booking reference that you can link to your loyalty card so I can't see why you'd be a second class citizen.

No matter how you book, if it is busy and they've given away all the good cars already then you're out of luck.

The hire car place is just across the road from the hotel, we won't need the car for the first couple of days.
So i was thinking of "popping across" the day before and just check they can get me one I want with a a couple of twenties in my hand.
Hopefully that might work.
