I am about to make a claim for travel holiday insurance which I haven't done before.

If something is paid for by credit card, do insurers ask you to claim off them as well as the policy or is there an order so you claim off the policy first and any uninsured loss off credit card?

I have cancelled things so due some refunds, I assume that is good and the insurer would then cover what we haven't been able to refund?
