Madagascar - Antananarivo

We are going out trekking in Madagascar later this year and have a couple of extra days in Antananarivo at the end of the trip.

Reading the .gov website it sounds a little dodgy. Has anyone been and can advise on how safe it is and anywhere worth visiting etc?
