Rookie question but we’re flying Edinburgh to Athens with Aegean for the first time.

Do we just rock up to the checkin desk with our luggage and boarding pass on my mobile?

There’s nothing liable to catch us out?

A passport would probably be a good idea too.

Apparently, if you turn up dressed in full Greek national dress Aegean gives you a free upgrade to business class.

Remember to post photos.

I'd also suggest wearing pants.

This isn't a question about the airline so much as "what do I need to do at the airport to get to my final destination?"

Fairy Nuff...

A quick Google suggests that Agean is a full service airline, 4 stark Skytrax and a member of Star Alliance. So chances of getting stumped with a Ryanair style £55 fee for paying fees fee is unlikely.

Getting through the airport is more likely to depend on the airport.youre going through. Star Alliance at Heathrow have self- check in for bags so you print off the tag and just drop the bags off (but I usually fly Singapore so YMMV).

Thanks for the replies (serious and not so serious)

Unfortunately my Greek National dress is at the cleaners so I’ll have to slum it with the peasants.

I was just being wary of the ‘Ryanair effect’ but that seems to be not the case.

In all seriousness, I've just last week been through Athens Airport. It's pretty good.

I didn't have check in luggage. I was off the plane and in my taxi within ten minutes of the cabin doors being opened.

Enjoy!
