I thought I saw a thread on Alton Towers here.

I've been offered free tickets from a friend but heard bad things about it in August.

Are a lot of rides closed?

Tempted as it would be free for me but would prefer to spend my time elsewhere if there's still issues.

Once the schools have gone back it’s a lot quieter in the week with way shorter queues.
It gets quieter still once the universities go back.

Does anyone know if many rides are closed at the moment or can suggest alternative parks?

Lots of reports online of long/slow queues and also rides regularly being closed for long periods. Alternative parks depends on which part of the country you're in and how far you want to travel.

Was there 2nd and 3rd of September, got on everything, was fairly busy,if you go on smiler use single rider line ,takes half the time.
If you arrive at opening time ,go to the furthest rides away ,has most go to wicker man with it being newer, but it ain’t that good.
