Reports are that a 73 year old UK man died following a heart attack. He may well have been strapped in. By the looks of the pictures from inside the plane, it was a bit of a mess. It must have been a pretty dramatic drop!

Many years ago wife and I flew to Egypt and hit extreme turbulence somewhere over eastern Europe. We were in the back row. The stewardess was about to serve coffee when the turbulence hit. She laid on the floor, hung on to a seat bracket, and slowly poured the coffee into the carpet. This is apparently standard procedure to stop hot liquid going everywhere. Overhead oxygen masks came down and things like magazines were strewn everywhere. The bad spell lasted maybe 10 minutes. I'll never forget it. What happened on Monday looks to have been even worse.

Might as well push the climate fear agenda. Never waste a good crisis and all that. One of the reasons I no longer have a tv licence.

No matter what goes on in the world is due to climate change.
The war in Gaza and Ukraine were caused by climate change too.
It’s a nasty fu#ker.

The thing that scares me is that they actually say this stuff without consideration or fear. That just shows how deep the bull((t pit goes.

It's most embarrassing when you come out the bog and the staff look at you with concern and then their eyes open on horror when they spot the soaked walls behind you as you sheepishly scurry back to your seat.

I'm on SQ tomorrow morning flying LHR -> SIN -> MEL.

It's going to be interesting to see how it goes. Wonder if more people will have their seat belts on...

Sit down on the loo - dont stand. Any slight bump and you've wet your shoes.

Always wear your seatbelt - doesn't have to be extremely tight. We up front wear seat belts at all times.

^ ^ ^ Before a flight a member of cabin crew, who has undertaken 100’s if not 1000’s of hours of training, gives a safety briefing and nobody pays attention.

These are the people, who in the very unlikely event of everything going a bit Pete Tong, may help to save you, but no, people can’t be bothered to pay attention.

I wonder if the recent crash in Japan, which resulted in zero causalities, is because the Japanese paid attention to the briefing.

Personally I find it rude, afford the crew the courtesy of your attention, if only to be polite, they’ve spent hours training for your safety.

No fatalities but several people hospitalised on a flight to Dublin. It happened during meal service so the cabin crew were on their feet when it happened

It is rude although some may have many flights behind them. Still rude. It's just a few minutes for the sake of those who do want to pay attention.

How on earth is it rude not to pay attention to something you have heard many times before laugh fair enough people shouldn’t be talking and disrupting it but personally I have my noise cancelling headphones on by that point.

^ ^ ^ Because the muppet sat next to you, thinks it also not necessary to listen the safety briefing, only they’re not a frequent flyer.

In the very unlikely event of everything going a bit pete tong, they will be the idiot trying to retrieve their lap top from the overhead locker.
