Later in the year I'm taking the Gallardo on a Euro road trip, one day of which will see me hit the Italian coast on the A11 / E80 at Tombolo at about 9am, ending the day in Menton, France by about 6pm hopefully.

I have planned to stay off the E80 for the majority of the day, using the SS1 as much as possible.

What I'm looking for are ideas of nice places to stop for a walk around / sights that I shouldn't miss - is Genoa worth a look for example?

Any thoughts?

Just come back from a road trip through Italy & France.

Stayed 3 nights in a lovely hotel in Viareggio & 2 in Antibes.

Both lovely places. Viareggio is in close proximity to Lucca & Pisa.

Alfa museum just outside Milan is quite eye opening and has a decent restaurant.

Portofino is the obvious place to visit but parking might be a challenge.

I can highly recommend Antibes. Nice itself is also very nice.

but both of your recommendations aren't on his route, but past his destination.

Oh well. I just focused on the ‘French coastal’ really. It would be a shame to miss Antibes if you’re in Menton though.

Thanks all for the suggestions so far… Portofino really appeals if I can find somewhere to dump the car and get a bus !
