Travel and books read

I’ve just returned from a road trip in Northern Spain and read some Laurie Lee because it seemed appropriate.

This got me thinking, would you choose a book based on your travel plans or base your travel plans upon a book that you have read?

Any examples to share?

My Mrs just piped up that you could substitute book with a movie, I’m not convinced but could be so.

BTW, no plans to base my travel itinerary on my favourite book, Papillon.
