Breakdown cover for a trip to France

Hi all. We're heading to Brittany this summer for a week, getting the ferry to Caen and then driving west.

Insurance covers me, on the case with triangle/high viz etc., but wondering if anyone has good advice/watch outs on buying breakdown cover? Mine currently is Volkswagen warranty and I am suspicious of cover in Europe so going to buy a week of cover.
