Ideas for the Algarve in a couple of weeks?

Bit last minute but want to get away for a week at the end of October (yep, half term!)

Ideally 4/5* adult only or at least not overrun with kids. Quiet but close to a town with good (not necessarily M*) restaurants, might hire a car or just use taxis.

Alvor was suggested?

Villa hire rather than hotel every time - should be some good shoulder season deals.

Alvor is a good choice, Carvoeiro an alternative and slightly livelier.

ELMS race at Portimao circuit in 2 weeks time might also be an attraction.

Personally i love the eastern algarve which is really quiet and peaceful compared to the resorts the other side of faro.

Eurotel in altura was really nice on the few times i've been there.
