I've got to stop over one night next week for a project in Grantham. What is a nice place within about 30mins drive of Grantham? Looking for nice pubs, restaurants etc possible live music. On the map it looks like Grantham (obviously), Leicester, Nottingham, Kings Lyn and Boston. Ive stayed in Peterborough and Lincoln already this year, so looking for somewhere else.

Thanks.

And Nottingham can be anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour.

But, there is plenty going on in Nottingham. (Certainly more than Grantham hehe)

Newark is only about 30 minutes away and is nice enough.

And as has been said, Stamford is also nice & is about 30 minutes away (A1 depending at Great Ponton where there is a crash most days)

Thanks Doofus and 2smoking, I guess an hour will be fine. I will be travelling midday, so out of the peak hours.

30 minutes from Stamford to Grantham, although the A1 seems to be having a crash a day at the moment

Out of all the above I'd pick Stamford. If you want more nightlife type vibe and a really decent curry then it's Nottingham.

Tony Norris’s Inn is a nice pub in Stamford. It’s been a good few years since I last went though.

I've been in that, agree it's nice.

For "normal" (not fancy) food I'd suggest Paten&co, which is part of the same group of pubs. It can get manic at the weekend though, you may need to book.

Good shout. I've stayed there (twice) and really enjoyed it. Great parking and if the weather is nice, a nice stroll into town is recommended. smile

The same group have the pub just down the road towards Stamford too. You can park at the Cecil, which as you say has easy parking. thumbup

We did every pub in Stamford last year....and as a result struggled to find the Indian. hehe
