Best place in Europe to fire some guns
Discussion
I know this is normally a stag do pastime.
Looking to do a Dad and Son trip with my 18 year old lad.
We both would be keen to sample some firing range action with some proper heavy duty/old school fire arms..ie Kalashnikov,Uzi ,Magnum etc.
This is not normally available in the UK as far as I'm aware ..but would love a short Euro trip with a safe city to have a few beers and incorporate a great firing range .
Looking forward to hearing your experiences and suggestions

If auto is your preference then ignore this suggestion but I shot in Krakow earlier this year. Uzi, Mosberg, AK, a bunch of revolvers and handgun options, I didn’t fire any rifles but they had some pretty cool ones. Krakow is a bloody beautiful city with plenty of bars and restaurants, not too expensive either.
I'll second Krakow, nice place to go with out shooting.
We went to this place " https://grotgun.com/ " about 5 years ago now, which was a short bus ride from the centre.
As an experience it was a bit "rushed" - ie handed a gun and then chucking bullets down their small range, but for me who had never shot a gun at all before, it was good.

FYI - looking at that, from experience , I'd say
Glock , assuming it'll be 9mm, is kind of fun for a one off - fire a couple of shots, then empty the clip fast - get that move cop/gangsta feeling. Very mild kickback. I even tried shooting sideways, gangsta style (and your hand gets in the way of aiming).
38 special - a laugh I guess, more kickback - not tried.
AK - will shock you with it's kickback, only fire a couple manual, then empty the other 8 shots in full auto. Loud and violent- I moved back a foot on full auto!. You NEED ear protection. You do with all of them TBH.
M4 - not tried - I've used an AR15 so assume similar (same ammo)- shockingly powerful, and loud. I Had ear plugs and ear defenders on top. And I was still overwhelmed by the sheer violence of it. I fired off a load of rounds in semi auto mode (was in NZ and full auto was outlawed).
Machine pistol - no idea.
Shotty - you can do that anywhere and quite dull.
You will learn fast that ALL films with indoor gun battles are b
ks because noone would be able to hear each other afterwards without ear protection :-)

We got to shoot some weapons they had in for testing with NATO rounds but couldn't keep any empty casings for obvious reasons.
They do let you keep non NATO casings which is a really nice momento.

Explosive rounds on the shotgun was a good laugh but makes a bit of a mess of the target.
We shot a Glock, Ak-47, Dragunov (sniper), shotgun and a AR-15. Then added a Magnum, Desert Eagle and CZBren which was an incredible gun. Almost impossible to miss. Scary really.

We also went here years ago on a mates stag do, really good setup and you could add a gun to your package on the day which was handy. We got to shoot some weapons they had in for testing with NATO rounds but couldn't keep any empty casings for obvious reasons.

That Dragunov has some kick to it!
For a total new person I would try and do about 25 rounds of each of these (so 50 total between 2)
Handguns
.22LR (semi)
.380 (revolver)
9mm (semi)
.44 (revolver, just do 6 each its not going to be comfortable)
Rifles
.223 (semi/full i.e AR15)
.44 (lever gun, using the left over .44)
7.62 (semi/full i.e AK)
.308 (bolt gun)
Maybe finish back on the 9mm pistol for some mag dumping.
Gives you about 200 rounds each, plenty enough but not too little. Also stepping up the power each time.
I would strongly advise you take some ear plugs. If the range is indoors and they offer you range over ear - ear pro then be aware the foam in them will probably be much less effective due to age/condition so double up on your ear pro with ear plugs. Eye pro is also a personal thing but I would never use range supplied eye pro.
Watch out for brass burns, dont wear baggy shirts or hoodies.

I went here years ago. It was great fun. Back then it was entered by an unassuming door in a small shed next to a petrol station on a road out of town, and suddenly you're in a huge bunker. That place (https://siaspektrssecurity.simplybook.it/v2/) seems to be a security company now.I shot a Glock 9mm, an AK47, a Winchester pump action shotgun and a Franchi Spas 15 assault shotgun. That last one is actually illegal in the US, but legal (in modified form) in the UK.

Years ago we used one for a stag do in Budapest called "Celeritas Shooting Club".
We bought their biggest package at the time and I think we fired everything from glocks to dragonov snipers, sub machine guns (with blanks) to magnums and Desert Eagles.
Was pricey but genuinely worth every penny had a great time and the guys taking it were a good laugh.

I went here in Tallinn:

It was good fun. I would recommend Tallinn for a weekend, especially the closer to Christmas we get, although the summer is fun, too with long days.

No longer somewhere you can go but I spent half a day at the military range just outside of Kiev a few years ago.
Had an ex Ukrainian special forces guy and a Chechen guy showing us the ropes - the Ukrainian guy turned up in a large jeep with enough weaponry in the boot to go to war with a small country.
They were great fun but definitely had an edge to their attitude.
Fired loads of stuff - my single favourite was the Druganov. What a fantastic old school bit of kit!

Having shot an old Drugonov rifle , I wouldn’t have my eye that close to the scope !! Had an ex Ukrainian special forces guy and a Chechen guy showing us the ropes - the Ukrainian guy turned up in a large jeep with enough weaponry in the boot to go to war with a small country.

It had a 4 inch rubber extension to the actual sight which squished up against your face when it recoiled.

Why can’t we do that in the UK? Genuine question.
In times like this maybe having the skill is not a bad thing?
There are places you can shoot, but not semi auto full bore. In times like this maybe having the skill is not a bad thing?
The main issue is they make it quite complex to get a licence and join club etc often ending in a chicken and egg situation where the local clubs wont accept new members but you cant get a FAC without membership to a club.....
Have a look at Silverstone shooting centre. They have some pretty good ranges. Also Bisley, obviously.
And in the north you have Diggle Ranges.
If you live in NI then you can still play with pistols.
In the UK if you enjoy "running and gunning" then mini rifle, Civilian Service Rifle and Practical Shotgun all fit the bill.
There is a small but active cowboy action shooting community too.

I was in Warsaw in 2019 and went to a range for my birthday with my brother called FSO, named after the old FSO car factory that was on site.Looking to do a Dad and Son trip with my 18 year old lad.

The range packages have slightly changed but some are more or less the same. I fired a Glock, Uzi, shotgun, AK variant, an M4 variant then at the end a WW2 Soviet PPsh submachine gun. With the GBP to PLN exchange rate, you can get the best packages for less than £100, and you'll spent a good 2 or so hours having fun.

I thought taking the sniper casings to be made into key rings for the stag group would be a good idea. Dubai customs and police didn’t agree, 3hrs in a holding cell at the airport and another 2 at the main police station. I still reckon I’m on a ‘list’
