Not required just this minute.
Trying to find out if its possible to get a Spanish tourist visa to extend the 90 day rule for a UK passport holder.
All my searches are ending up with either the "Employment" or "Special Circumstances" Visas.

In addition I obviously know that spouses of EU members are exempt from this rule but what about unmarried partners?

I don't think there is a way, as a non EU citizen, to stay longer than the 90/180 allows unless you are working or loaded.

Well France has a 6 month visitor vis so I would expect Spain to do the same.
Try posting in the Spain forum on here just keep scrolling to international section.
Most second home owners need these visas and lots of long term camper van users to get more than 90 days.
There are lots of groups on Facebook that may be helpful

There are also a range of visas including investment visas, and digital nomad visas in some countries.

You can if you are married to someone with an EU passport
It does need to be a formal arrangement though

Sorry, should have said if you are married to someone who holds an EU country passport (as my wife does).

OP did say a tourist visa which suggests they will not be working.

List of visas here:
