Just after opinions from those who may have been - we are off to Sardinia next July/August for a week in a very expensive Airbnb with private pool.

Having booked a few months ago, I have now seen the pool is not heated. The reviews are all 5 star and the host states that owing to the temperatures it won't make a difference. But there is something nagging in my head, this is by far the most expensive place we have ever booked and I don't want disappointment if the kids want to have a night time swim and the water is not very inviting. We have had a few unheated pools over the years (all be it in cooler climates) and they were not inviting. I don't know if I am over thinking it and worrying about something that will be a non issue.

I can cancel the accommodation with no charge up until next year so there is that option.

Surely a non heated pool will be refreshing in the heat of the an italian summer?

It will be just fine. my last house had an unheated pool in the UK. Even in the UK during warm spells the water temperature got quite comfortable.

Sardinia will be fine

Our pool in Austria is not heated. It’s often too warm in summer. Sardinia will be fine. lol.

Interesting thanks.

I think I am comparing it to something not really comparable, which was a duff airbnb we stayed in in the UK where the pool wasn't advertised and when we were told we could use it (during an awkward family row) it was cold and in need of repair.

I will keep the booking!

I swam in several different unheated pools in Corsica in June last year and they were fine. I expect further south in August would be no problem, I suspect they aren't heated because there is no need to heat them.

You’ll be fine. We’re in western Sicily so further south but our unheated pool was into the low 30’s this summer.

If you're really naughty, go to the pool house and turn the heater up! Just don't tell anyone....

No pool house in this accommodation,or not that I am aware of. I have pictured the pool which explains why I chose it.

We're in Portugal and never have the pool heated in Summer - you really don't need it.

It's Sardinia (not Scarborough) in August you won't need a heated pool.

Well, its not a pool to swim in as such, but, pools a pool right? It just needs to be enterable and enjoyable. They are 11 and 13 so hopefully, in the heat all good.

Only issue is it will be compared to this years stay in Croatia where we had a pool on the roof. I think it was heated but not sure, but temps were 37 - 38. Night time pool was fine.

We just had a dipping pool in our place in south Sardinia in October and it was absolutely lovely to sit in with the sun then.

You'll be fine.

Outdoor shower being heated is nice if the suns not facing the way of it though, god I miss the outdoor shower.

PS Where is this looks like it's in the north.

It was almost certainly not heated, you’re just used to uk swimming pools. The water in pools heats up so quickly especially in direct sunlight. In Vienna we have a 14m outdoor pool at home and a 25m outdoor pool in the tennis club. Both get up to 30 degrees in the hottest parts of summer. We only heat from end of April during May and then maybe in September. But otherwise it’s heating off.

I had an outdoor unheated pool in Sardinia in August. It was blissful. It was blissful in the night as well.

You’ve ignored several responses (including mine) from people living or with properties in similar areas. Read those and decide whether you need to spend the money to heat a pool or not.
