Somewhere I have always fancied visiting and then I unexpectedly came across this brilliant little video by a chap I follow for lots of other things through his channel Tyneside Life - enjoy.

We visited Mallaig earlier this year for our honeymoon but didn't get the chance to go to Knoydart due to the ferry timetable but it's a stunning part of the world. Somewhere i'd definitely like to visit more often.

On the road to nowhere, heading for Mallaig
I can feel the wild west highland breeze
Drive all my fears away
Through the raging Sound of Sleat
Safe on Spanish John
I can't wait for heaven's gate
It's paradise I'm looking on
Sky, nothing but blue sky all around
Sky, nothing but blue sky
Feel the silence calling all around, all around

Eagle high on Ladhar Bheinn
Heaven and hell beneath
Kinloch Hourn's where hell is born
And Nevis where the angels meet
Knoydart mends a broken heart
Heals a tortured soul
Brings new life to tired minds
And brightens eyes that look upon
Sky, nothing but blue sky all around
Sky, nothing but blue sky
Feel the silence calling all around, all around

Inverie, oh Inverie, ancient hearts of old
Ugly bds one and all
We'll gather just to look upon
Sky, nothing but blue sky all around
Sky, nothing but blue sky
Feel the silence calling all around, all around
Sky, nothing but blue sky all around
Sky, nothing but blue sky
Feel the silence calling
Hear the silence calling
Feel the silence calling
All around, all around

I've sailed in a few times to Inverie on my own boat but not for nearly 15 years or so. Never got a chance to spend more than a day there so couldn't walk far but fascinating place. Was bemused to see a Porsche Cayenne parked up among the untaxed land rovers but guess it belonged to Cameron Macintosh who had a place there.

I did a long weekend there when I was in mountain rescue.

Fabulous part of the world.

Summited one of the hills in thick fog to find a mahoosive stag already up there about 10ft away from me. A pretty special experience.

It's a boat in or a very very long walk.

It's a nice walk from Glenfinnan to Inverie or vice versa. I did it with the dog a few years ago. Parked at Glenfinnan. Train to Mallaig. Ferry to Inverie. Stayed at Sourlies and Achuil bothies. Only regret was not having time for a pint in the pub in Inverie I had to crack on to get to Sourlies before dark.

Thanks for the comments - I've really got the bug to do this walk in 2025 and have started the initial planning. Walk there and ferry back, with my trusty Welsh terrier

Getting quite excited about it smile
