Made a slight c@ck up on my return flights from Nice. As such it's cheaper to fly back via Vienna, staying for 3 nights.
Landing early Sunday afternoon, then flight out Wednesday lunchtime.

So any recommendations would be appreciated.
We're a group ( works treat ) with most early 20s. So want fun things if possible.

Will do St Stephens Cathedral. However don't want 2 days of museum tours.

Usually like to see a local gig of some sort. Happy for a variety of music types. Rock type bars usually go down well.

Seriously get yourself booked on a tour of the VIC, it’s fascinating. I’ve been there for work and multiple conferences, so never did the tour as I could wander about, but the tour is meant to be very good.

Lots of nuclear stuff, amazing art donated from different countries, there is a space bit with prototype space ROVs and some moon rock. There is some amazing graffiti art on the nearby buildings approaching the river, and the food cart outside the tube stop is brilliant.

I know it might not fall into the ‘cool and trendy’ aspect, but you won’t regret it.

I took my mum a few years ago as she loves history, so might not be your cup of tea.

Prater - Big Ferris Wheel

All the palaces - Schonbrunn / Belvedere / Hofburg

Cake at Cafe Central

Bus Tour / Boat Tour Danube

Behind the scenes tour of the Opera House

Other things you could do which we didn't is the Sigmund Freund house, or a Third Man Tour which takes you undergrounds https://www.drittemanntour.at/en/sewer-tour

At the josefstadter u bahn there’s a row of railway arches, mostly bars and cafes, a few that do live music. Loop is the one I remember. There’s also a decent jazz bar in the Bermuda Triangle.

Mumok is decent. Small but focused modern art museum with a fairly stunning selection of Klimt and egon schiele.

Tian bistro would make for a good group meal. It’s vegetarian but you will not walk away disappointed. It’s the casual arm of a Michelin joint nearby.

The tv tower gives great views on a clear day. Otherwise it’s a long way for very little.

I used to really enjoy walking around, getting cold (it’s fricking cold at times in the winter), then calling into some dingy old bar/restaurant for a big bowl of gulasch soup.

Evening time, party hard, drink beer and somehow make it home.

The flak towers are worth looking at (I don’t think you can get inside any of them). Hard to miss given the size.

Giant reinforced concrete towers built during WW2 that are too expensive / difficult to demolish.

Rock type bars? There's a hardrock in Vienna;) also fully recommend the natural history museum, not the most young trendy thing to do but it was great.

Hundertwasser house too.

Forgot to add there is also a food market outside https://www.wien.info/en/dine-drink/markets/naschm... which we visited.

Good place to stop for a drink and grab some food.

SLIGHT c*ck up? Nice to (I presume) UK via Vienna? biggrin

Oh well, Vienna's quite pretty in a staid teutonic kind of way - Not sure it's got enough for 3 days, though.

Thanks for the additional comments
Flak towers look intresting

Might do the natural history museum. As much as traditional museums bore me if they have dinosaurs I'll usually leave happy.

Hundertwasser house, I like the look of that thanks

Bratislava is only 1 hour away, an easy day trip to a cheap capital city with a lovely old town.
