UK
No more than 2 hours from Merseyside
Luxury
Wow factor
Exclusive
Great food (although not ruling out self catering)
Spa treatments (Although would compromise if there was a view and a hot tub)
Romantic
Relaxing
A big bath.
Big bed.

Can be hotel, cottage, shepherd's hut, log cabin, space ship, hobbit house.

What recommendations do you all have?

Might just squeek in under two hours depending on where in Merseyside you are travelling from.

I stayed in the Ivy lodge - Was a really big lodge with a nice pellet burner to heat it, outside hot tub thats completely private with great views. Only a bit further than your requirements.

Snowdon is not too far away and is stunning also even if you don't climb it.

Seconded - we've visited the Spa and eaten lunch and dinner here a few times and the outlook from the heated outdoor pool is lovely.

So, some of those places are out of my budget, some booked up, but I eventually gave my wife a short list which included a couple of them, plus a shepherd's hut, a treehouse, a castle gate house, a trip.to Jersey, and a cricket pavilion. Each met "our" requirements in different ways.

My wife then dissected the list and we are now staying here.

Which is fine by me, but doesn't meet some of the challenges SWMBO had set me.

Thank.you to all who contributed. The fact that I was able to come up with a list that didn't include generic brown tub chairs seemed to be enough to spur my wife onto booking.com and find something herself.

Problem is I'd need to take a day off work. And I don't have many spare days left.

Sadly, very tired and restaurant service awful.

These places are very good, with our being silly pricing ranked top / first

Schloss Roxburgh, might be a bit far but worth it
