Just booked myself flights for 11 nights in Toronto this September, I will have a google for older posts but hints and tips for a solo traveller?

Initial research says I should be ok public transport getting around the city, I will also look into a heli flight to Niagra Falls.

(Yes I know there is an extra R in the title)

The horse tartare here is superb.

A meal or a G&T up the CN Tower nice experience. Depending on time of year, a boat trip out to the islands on Lake Ontario can be a nice day and nice to take in the view looking back at Toronto rather than out from it.

Yorkville is a nice part of town for an evening wander and this place is superb (Wagyu in particular).

Great city just to amble about to be honest.

I have a few pals in the area so have only used hotels a few times but I would say that is a good an area as any. I stayed in a corner suite with lake views at the Radisson Blu in that area and it was very pleasant. Walking distance to some decent parts of town too.

Just come back… niagra was rather chilly. Went there by train.

Public transport is good, uber is also handy. I stayed in the Hilton not far from lake and it was very nice.

This place was the best food I had there https://capherang.ca/Story

Nice city but not sure about 11 days.

Not intending to spend all 11 days there, looking at an overnight trip to Nova Scotia for some whale watching and possibly internal flight to Vancouver or maybe stay on the east coast for Ottawa or Montreal

Regards Niagara Falls , by all means spend 5 minutes there admiring them then get the hell out , akin to Blackpool . A short drive to Niagara on the Like will reward you well , really nice town and refreshing after Toronto and the Falls .

Make sure you familiarise yourself with the distances involved, Canada is a big country and just looking at a map can be deceptive if you are used to a different scale... I assume you mean internal flights rather than driving to Nova Scotia as Toronto-Halifax would be about 18 hours drive each way!

Yes will be internal flights everywhere due to being aware of the distances

+1

Well 5 min to see Niagara Falls is a bit of hyperbole, I think I spent an hour or two strolling around the falls area taking photos etc, and you could easily spend more time if you do the tour in behind the falls and/or the boat ride below them. But in principle I agree - see the falls and then leave instead of staying in Niagara Falls City.

Niagara-on-the-lake (locals run that together into one word hehe ) is lovely and a much nicer place to spend some time.

Went up the CN Tower back in the mid '80s and walked on the glass floors looking down on the nearby sky-scrapers. Loved it!

The thought of doing that now makes me seriously go weak at the knees and feel quite faint. eekhehe

Further into towards the city centre is The Chelsea, where I stayed. It's huge, but the staff are good and the concierge desk is ultra helpful. They organised me a place on a Niagara Falls day trip, with boat trip to the base of the falls, a visit to the town of Niagara on the Lake, and a vineyard, with transport to and from the hotel, for around £85.

Hamilton might be a good shout too. Its between NF and Toronto on that 'curve' when you go the other side of the lake. The airport is there IIRC

Pearson is closer to the city than Hamilton. I can't see any reason you would stay there rather than in the thick of it. I spent a month in Oakville but only as I had friends there. It's easily accessible to the city but if I was just on a weeks visit I would choose the city centre every time. Very easy to go out towards Burlington/Hamilton on the train if you wanted. Not sure I can see much point, as nice as the area is.
