Barcelona in August
Discussion
We promised the teenager a 'proper plane-based' holiday rather than shed dragging for this year and my wife wants to go to Barcelona, so that's where we're off to in August!
Holiday insurance will be another issue thanks to my recent spell in the cardiac ward (feeling better every day) so I've read that thread with interest!
But wondering if anyone had any recommendations for Barcelona, in general or specific? We've looked at some packages but may well do it ourselves booking direct and trusting to Sleazyjet/Ryan as it's cheaper. (Not massive budget, probs about £185/night for the threee of us. Looking at 10 nights)
Teen wants a 'posh' place with a pool and more towards the beach than the centre whereas us old farts want to be walking/easy public transport and like the art/museums side of things!
But any recommendations for places, attractions, transfers, public tansport etc all welcome. Cheers.

Barcelona is a fantastic city. Have a look at H10 hotels - they’re not posh but decent quality and good value. I think they have around 6 hotels in the city. I’ve stayed in the Marina and Casanova. Both good locations and the Casanova has a rooftop bar/pool.
Avoid La Ramblas (apart from maybe the market) - it’s a tacky tourist trap and is nothing like the real Barcelona.
Enjoy.
