I shall be visiting Amble and staying for a week in a self catering property.
Now I have been there before, once when the holiday was curtailed by the first Covid lockdown, and the second time I was so ill I remained in either the bed or the bathroom, mainly bathroom, third time the weather was so bad we pretty much watched a large amount of TV on the firestick.
Anyhow I'm not a complete stranger to Northumberland having worked in the area a bit so I know that I love walking on empty beaches and seeing touristy stuff.
Any locals that can point me to interesting stuff, I like industrial history, and to decent pub food, fish and chips especially.
I tried this for a trip to Bridlington and got some great suggestions, hopefully I will again.

Jolly Fisherman at Craster for seafood (better that the Potted Lobster or Lord Crewe in Bamburgh IMO).

As has been said Cragside ticks your industrial history box but Beamish is not a million miles away and you could also visit the Aston Workshop and Tanfield railway, and Causey arch, whilst there.

Few years since we were there but I remember we had a good meal at The Fish Shack on Amble Harbour.

Craster to Low Newton is a classic coastal walk and the Ship Inn in Newton has always been great for us.

Seconded.

The green outside the Ship is one of my most favouritest places in the world.

Can walk to it along the beach taking in Dunstanburgh castle, stop off or a drink and a bite at the golf course clubhouse nearby.

Small nature reserve along the path behind the Ship as well if birds are your thing.

We were there yesterday (live only a few miles away). Great simple lunch at The Old Custom House.

Market is on on a Sunday - worth a look. I think the Saturday one starts later this month.

If you like ice cream definitely visit Morwick Dairy only a few miles away.

It’s worth having a walk alongside the river in nearby Warkworth ( you can see the castle from Amble). Parking can be a pain at weekends though,

Alnmouth’s worth a visit.

Alnwick’s the nearest ‘big’ town and if you go there and have any interest in books you MUST visit Barter Books in the old railway station but do NOT try and park there; there’s a chance you’ll regret it. Instead drive past and turn right immediately before the gate into the high street onto Greenwell Road - loads of parking there, Also in Alnwick is The Alnwick Garden - it’s not cheap but I think there might be a discount at the moment if you have a lottery ticket - some promotion with the National Lottery.

Defo Alnwick garden and cragside, wallington is a bit flatter. Corbridge or morpeth for nice for a day out. Nice cafe at hauxley if you walk south. Warkworth castle is pretty cool. Northumberland zoo or Kirkly hall are surprisingly fun if you have bains to entertain. Cool little railway between ford and etal.
Some fun roads once you get west of the A1 towards rothbury too.

Woodhorn Museum isn't to far away, a former colliery. I've not been so can't vouch for how good or bad it is.
Aln Valley railway is worth a visit if they are running trains that day.

Another vote for Cragside if you like industrial history. Also, Turnbulls butchere in Alnwick is also a must visit !
