Rio Hotel Recommendations

Got a couple of nights in Rio de Janeiro coming up soon. Need a hotel recommendation in a safe area, as close as possible to where the action is. Normally I always stay in the City Centre but internet says that might not be the best, and maybe Copacabana in a better shout. Need something like a Premier Inn, reasonable cost, clean and modern. Nothing fancy, but not a dive.
Only there a couple of days, will be doing the usual tourist stuff, Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf, and the beach.

Last time I was there we stayed at the Royal Regent which is quite nice with a rooftop terrace. Some of the rooms can be quite small so be careful if you book, we were OK as we had two very young children so managed to get a larger room. A short stroll to Copacabana and the whole sea front, took a bus into town a couple of times and that was easy.
