Good evening,

We are looking at doing 2 weeks in Florida this December during the school hols.

Interested in some theme park action, the Cape, Crystal River, Everglades and possibly Keys.

My wife and I went when we were kids but that’s it.

We are after somebody to help us navigate how to ‘do it’ based on experience rather than us just winging it!

Any takers?

Thank you.

Please bear in mind that Christmas/New Year is the busiest period of the year
at Disney/Universal, so expect crowded parks and huge queues for most rides.

The Dibb has a lot of UK-centric planning info:

IMHO you're looking at trying to squeeze too much into 2 weeks.

Who is going and what do you want to get out of theme parks, are you thinking huge coasters or Disney magic?

I'd think about which parks to visit but likely you'll be looking to spend around a week in Orlando and then I'd suggest a week there. If you're desperate to do Crystal River you could do a day trip but it's a good 3.5 hour round trip.

Then for the second week you need to work out what you want to do and therefore where you want to be. If you want to relax and do the Everglades somewhere like Naples on the Gulf Coast could work well. If you want more of a City feel whilst still easily being able to do the Everglades and also the Cape and then the keys then Miami would be better (although the keys is a long way from Orlando!).

The big problem that you'll have is that you'll likely have a return flight so if you flew to Orlando you'd have a 4 hour drive back from Miami / Naples at the end of your holiday. If you flew into Miami you'd have a 4 hour drive to Orlando at the start.
