Flight cancellation compensation?
Discussion
Not sure if I can, will be doing some reading when I get to the office. But
Booked to fly with emirates London Dubai HoChi Minh and took off last night from Heathrow. Half way through the flight I received a message that due to operational reasons my second flight had been re booked for 24 hours later.
Landed in Dubai and along with lots of lines, vouchers and other tired passengers I am now in a s
t airport hotel
No big deal except I was scheduled to arrive Sunday evening and now arriving Monday evening (only one flight a day from dubai to HCMC)
This means my work on Monday and the rest of the week is buggered. Consultant per day contract! I am loosing a days work.
Do I have any comeback? Recourse?
Thanks from a s
t hotel in dubai with no luggage and rude staff!

UK261 should cover you here if you are on one ticket from London to final destination (I believe you are, but cannot be 100% certain.) If you're in economy then it should be the maximum £510.
As a comparison, in 2023 I was on United for London>Houston>Kansas City. Ended up arriving at Kansas City 14 hours late due to missed connection in Houston and an overnight stay there. I declined their s
tty hotel and claimed for the Marriott in the terminal on company expenses. £510 was eventually paid (there is no time stipulation on the payment, keep prodding the airline).
UK261 does not cover you for a non-UK airline back in to London though.
If the airline offers other compensation you should still be able to claim as it does not affect your rights under UK261 (so I got $100 flight vouchers from United and still claimed).
