Its all a bit of a lottery on Booking.com and Trip advisor with reviews so varied I don't know what to choose .

Two nights in each location September , close to town centre , walk in preferable , not too many stairs if possible .
Middle aged couple budget usually about EUR 180 per night .

Recommendations from experience please .

See my other post .

Thank you

For Amiens, we’ve stayed at the Ibis Styles Amiens Centre. Centrally located, within walking distance of all central attractions. For eating out, would recommend one of the many restaurants on Quai Belu. Parking is available near the station.

For Troyes, can recommend Brit Hotel Les Comtes de Champagne. Again, no hotel parking, but easy enough to park at Bvd Victor Hugo.

I've stayed here a few times - not far out of Troyes. Would recommend.

Second vote for the Amiens Ibis as above. We stayed there on a summer Abbeville track day weekend. Right in the heart of town, easy walk to the river, cathedral etc

The hotel has underground car park.

For Troyes we stayed at the ibis Troyes Centre. Good basic hotel, well located for the town centre with secure underground parking. Or you can park in the adjacent cinema car park for free overnight. We'd stay there again.
